From a young age, storytelling and written expression has been an important part of my life. As I have grown older, I have come to appreciate the value and importance of creative expression as a means of building bridges, healing relationships (including one’s internal relationship with self), developing connections, and sharing insights and experiences – leading to greater contentment at the personal level, as well as enhanced collective consciousness.
Personally, art saved my sanity during difficult moments in my life. I started this blog when I was suffering from a post-viral fatigue and health complications that threatened to put an end to my legal career – before I’d even fully qualified.
I resume this blog now: older, healthier, and almost a completely different person. I cannot deny that getting sick like I did, actually changed my life for the better. It led me on a journey of self-healing and discovery, led me to explore different types of medicine, to enhanced understandings of health, including greater awareness of the environment we live in and the links between our health and that of our planet. It led me to yoga, meditation, spiritual exploration, and tremendous personal growth. It equipped me with the skills I needed for professional success, the kind of skills that you don’t learn from textbooks and university lectures. It could be said that it was at least a reason why I found myself living in a treehouse in Costa Rica, on the Nicoya Peninsula, during the Covid-19 pandemic.
During my “lockdown”, art took on a richer meaning for me. Art is much more than an output, more than results. It is more than a poem, a painting, a song or a book. It is a way of breathing, a way of living, and it can and ought to permeate all aspects of our daily lives. Art is the key to a more enhanced and fulfilled life, to breaking free from constraining societal norms that no longer serve us, to transcending negative and inhibiting emotions such as fear, anger, and pain.
Out of sunset jam sessions, out of the crushing heat of a sweat lodge ceremony, out of dances under the stars, I found myself developing a new vision for life. When we tap into the creative energy within ourselves, and exchange that energy with others, we can give birth to magic. Because magic happens when we leave behind the limiting definitions and clouded lenses that for too long have trapped us in out-dated ways of thinking and being. When we leave those unhealthy patterns behind, we create the right conditions for our mind to roam in an explorative and free state, in turn allowing us to observe ourselves and our world with fresh, untainted eyes, and tune in with more aligned ways of living.
It’s time to think outside the constraining cage of the logical mind, to find innovative solutions to solve the world’s problems, and break the negative cycles that society is currently caught up in.
I am here to inspire creative thinking, to promote new ways of living, and to show you an alternative, blissful reality that we can create here on earth.
In this blog, I will share not only my own art, but stories from my personal journey towards a healthier, more peaceful, and more joyful life, and techniques I’ve learnt along the way.
I am currently searching for land in Costa Rica to create a healing sanctuary, a place of reconnection to the earth and to each other.
I am also looking for representation/publication of my existing written works (samples available on this site), as well as a new book on personal and spiritual growth.
I am always keen to co-create and collaborate with other artists.
