What is this world
that has become so frigid
icy and closed
reporting the neighbour
who stepped out of line
because the laws were all wrong
and forbade loving touch
the stranger who yearned
after too long alone
for a tender smile
to break down those walls
peer behind the mask
false layers of protection
that instead, just destroy
