Forbidden

At love’s mercy she cries softly

Dreaming of another’s body

In the darkness, the cold silence

Of the doubt that binds her firmly

Is it so wrong? – she asks as fear

Keeps her vision blurred, so unclear;

The demon’s voice inside her mind

Is taunting all that she holds dear

And trapped her heart proceeds to yearn

For a clue to help her discern

What can this foreign feeling mean?

She needs her hope to be confirmed

Until then, she will wait the night

Doubt echoing till morning light

She’ll bow her head, her soul ashamed

Of indulging passion’s delight
